[SOLVED]computer wont open any programs

Hi all , my computer is down at the moment dont know what caused this or when it'll be up. My computer takes forever to start up but once everythings loaded in start up. Nothing will open. Ive tried start up recovery, i dont have the repair disc for vista i may have to pick one up. Safe mode works fine, i tried scanning for corrupted files in safe mode didnt help. Any sudgestions???

could be a virus or a variation of spyware. Might go into safe mode and run something like malwarebytes http://www.malwar...

I also found where the following worked for several people with this issue:
CTRL-ALT-DELETE for Task Manager.
Then click on File in the upper left.
Hold CTRL and click New Task (Run).
Enter REGEDIT.EXE in the black box that pops up, you don't need to go to the next line or anything.
Press Enter.
Now, you should have successfully opened up Regedit! (I was unable to through any normal means because it was an executable)
On the left, there should be a folder named HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT. Click on that.
Scroll down until you find the .exe folder.
Click on that, and look in the right panel. The first item on the list for me was the problem. This was the (Default) file, and under Data on the right, it said secfile. This is why no executables were working!
Now you right click on (Default), and press Modify.
Under Value Data, change it from whatever it is, (mine was secfile), to exefile.
Press Ok.

Hi SAMCRO,
this is not the first time I hear this...Strych9 is right, probably your pc has been infected by a virus or a malware. You can start Windows in safe mode and search for viruses/malware.
But if you don't find anything with different antivirus/antimalware programs and your OS is installed on partition C (and you have at least 2 partitions), maybe, to avoid spending too much time on this issue, it's better to reinstall directly the entire OS on C.
Sometimes it's better to nuke all than to leave something ugly alive...  (try a redeemer !) |

When in doubt, apply 2nd story theory. If that doesn't work, apply 5th story theory. And if all else fails, apply the Law of the 35lbs maul. |

ok i think i got it fixed had some spy and adware on there and alot fo corrupted/clusterd window files .by doing a discscan thanks trucker for helping me out and thanks for the sudgestions strych and mr.p
