I was curious to which video driver do you all recommend I use? The maps are pretty dark, I am currently using the D3D that is standard with game and when I use the open gl that's standard it's even worse. Any ideas?
Thanks for the help,
Sampson |

I use opengl but you will want to update with the one in the download section. Others have had success with D3d 9 & 10 but it is all about OS and video card. Try the opengl update. Should fix the darkness issue, but pretty much all the drivers out of the box are crappy in my opinion. |

There are offer of graphic driver renders for UT99. OpenGL and D3D9/10.
Sometimes it depend on the graphic card you have as well. However I've been lucky just to be able to use D3D9 on both of my ATI & nVida. OpenGL didn't do good for me but it kind of worked when I got ATI.
I prefer D3D9 imo. |

Thank you both, I'll update drivers for both and see which one works best. |

You can also adjust your brightness inside your video preferences to make the maps lighter, I run my brightness on full in every map.

I also think... when you do get these you will have to update your ut.ini as well for the new driver settings.
Example of the setting that you can configure: http://www.cwdohn...tings.html |

Hi Sampson,
this post published on UT99.org could help you in setting video parameters in UT99 (last update is March 2013 !)
Unreal Tournament Audio & Visuals Tweaking Guide

Try DVD v9 and OpenGL v3.x drivers and compare them, can't say which works better for you. As Strych9 pointed out, it's all about OS and video card (ATI or nVidia).
Some guys say D3D v10 drivers are awesome but I know these drivers had problems with ACE time ago (and I don't know if someone solved the issue...)

So far I've updated d3d and noticed a change in brightness, gonna pla y around with open gl latter this week to compare. Thank you all for the info and recommendation on updating my ini files. Very helpful. I'll keep you posted to which works best with my vista os and nvidia 8600 gt card. |

PS can you hook me up with those drivers. D3d is working well but I still think it can be brighter in darker areas. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks PS,

Look into your unrealtournament.ini and you could find this under your d3d drivers:
GammaOffset=0.200000
to increase it (if it would do better, change 1 # like this)
GammaOffset=0.300000
Hopefully this would work. |
